The Spatula Museum

The Spatula Museum #5

Img_0825Welcome to the Fine Art section of The Spatula Museum. You see here the first in our collection from Jonathan's Wild Cherry Spoons. Made of cherry wood, it has a unique sense of balance and form because it was crafted with the hand and purpose in mind.

All kidding aside, this is the most-used spatula in my kitchen. It is the one I grab first. It fits the hand so well, and the subtle curve of its handle (which I have been completely unable to capture in a photo) is just right. My favorite Gourmet Kitchen Tools Store in Glendale, AZ carries a great selection of Jonathan's Spoons utensils.

The Spatula Museum #4

Img_0823Hey, Dud, It'sa Chef'n, or 'Adam Gets His Wish'.

Though this is not one of the most used spatulas in my collection, it is one of my favorites. It has a hardened steel core which gives it a very nice balanced feel in your hand, like a high-quality firearm or knife. The double-ended nature makes it useful in a lot of places. And it is available in seven colors, no less, ensuring that at least one in the collection always will be a perfect fit in one of the Spatula Museum exhibits.

Spatula Museum Gets Fan Mail

Dave,

I am so glad that I found your spatula museum!
You don't know how good it feels to know there are other people who appreciate the spatula as I do.
This is one of my favorite spatulas. It is well used and one of the many that I have.
Thank you very much for your blog.

The Spatula Museum #3

Img_0800This is the spatula that came with my Cuisinart Food Processor. The curved edge actually works very well for scraping sown the sides of the work bowl.

The Spatula Museum #2

Img_0791This fine specimen was given to me by my lovely wife on the occassion of my 53rd birthday, immediately after learning of my plans for The Spatula Museum.

Nothing says I love you like the gift of a spatula.

The Spatula Museum

Img_0776There is a dark side to the Fumbling Foodie - a side where weird wacky ideas pop out with no warning.

It all started a few weeks ago when I noticed that I seem to have an affliction known as Spatula Acquisition Syndrome (SAS for short). Then a cable channel showed a parody commercial about a big box store named Spatula City. Then it struck me: The Spatula Museum. If my city can have a Bead Museum, then I see nothing wrong with turning my growing collection of spatulas into an online virtual Spatula Museum.

Exhibit 1 is a Lamson Sharp Backstop Turner from their Pro Walnut Kitchen Tools Collection. I really like this spatula when I am sauteing fish, as the backstop keeps the fish on the spatula during the occasional 'aggressive' shove of the spatula under the fish.

I also like it because it is pretty stiff, making it ideal for those occasions when it is necessary to aggressivly de-glaze the pan.

Heather at Plate It Up! can set you up with one.
