Curt's Grandma's Bread

Img_1146I made bread today using Curt McAdams' Grandma's recipe and it met with resounding approval here in the Fumbling Foodie household. On entire loaf was devoured within about 5 minutes.

My loaves did not turn out in the traditional rectangular shape but I'm not sure if that is a problem on my part or if that is supposed to be the way they are. Curt?

Dave, mine have turned out normal... You put them in the loaf pans and let them rise? I usually let the dough rise, then halve it, form it, put it in the pans, then let it rise again, then bake it. I'm sure it's good, though. It can't be simpler, either.

Curt,

I think the problem was that I did not let them rise long enough. The stuff I have been reading leads me to believe that after dividing the dough and putting it into the pans I should have left it to rise for 60-90 minutes. My rise time was much shorter

I am curious though that you were able to get 2 loaves out of three cups of flour. A lot of recipes use twice that.
