Dave Barnhart

I am Dave Barnhart. I have been married to the same wonderful woman and excellent cook for nearly 30 years. I live in Glendale, Arizona.

It dawned on me one day not long ago that I was missing out on something. My neighbor cooks. My business partner's husband cooks. My nephew is a professional chef. They all seemed to enjoy cooking as an outlet for their creative energies. I on the other hand could end up in the burn unit from making ice cubes.

So I asked my wife one day if she would feel threatened if I cooked one meal a week. To the contrary, she was enthusiastic. I assumed that the only explanation for her enthusiasm was that her life had become dull and she figured my culinary antics would have some entertainment value.

I have filled the house with smoke a couple of times. I even had a small fire in the oven once (I'll get around to telling that story someday). For the most part however, the results of my efforts have been surprisingly positive. My wife is loving it. And after sampling one of my successes a woman at work wants to marry me.

In the process I've discovered that there are two kinds of women: Those that for whom the way to their heart is through chocolate, and those that for whom the way to their heart is through potatoes.
